“The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.”
-Frank Lloyd Wright

Welcome

Architecture is a fascinating concentration of study. It has been one of the most popular forms of expression since the beginning of time. Architecture has molded history from the mud huts to the Roman Coliseum. The influence of architecture can be found all over the world from the Santa Maria Del Fiore in Florence, Italy, to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Each part of the world has its different monumental structures to tell its history. Many of these ancient structures are marvels of their time and many are still astonished by them. From my experience in the study abroad program to Florence, Italy, I got to see some of these beautiful structures that have come to make up our great history. I am hoping that one day I can leave behind a building that can create an entire new emotion for the future to look back upon.

Education to me has always been very important. For as long as I can remember, my parents continually stressed the importance of “getting a good education”, and I was always told to pursue whatever I wanted. Through the early years of my education, my interests began to grow in mathematics as well as understanding how things work. Before I entered high school, I had no idea what kind of higher education I would pursue. In my second year of high school I decided to take a class in Engineering Graphics. During the class, I began to visualize objects and draw them in different ways. I then took those same objects and built them in Auto Cad, and eventually began building them in 3D Cad. After this class, I began longing to create and design something amazing.

I began to look into schools and chose Kent State University. The program was very well known and the idea of studying abroad in Florence, Italy made my want to study here worthwhile. After completing my freshman courses, I was accepted as an Architect Major into the school for summer studio. This intense summer program concentrated strictly on Architect classes and I proved then that I was a hard worker and could maintain the good grade point average. As I pursued the field of architecture, I was introduced to many parts of the development processes and different areas of study. As the years went on I loved architecture more and more, and came to realize that there was nothing else that I would want to do more than to become an Architect.
